Helsinki born, Humboldt county artist Claire Iris Schencke is a pioneer in the emerging field of mobile digital art. Additionally, she finds creative balance in pursuing the ancient art of printmaking. She usually focuses on specific themes: jazz, glaciers, shorescapes and lovely bugs. She studied Studio Art at Konstfack and Art History at Stockholm University in Sweden, and Monotype Printmaking with Patricia Sennott in Arcata, California.  Schencke exhibits her work on-line and at the Humboldt Artist Gallery at the Morris Graves Museum of Art in Eureka, California.

Making monotypes is a sensual experience: the slick glass, the creamy inks, the hand of the fine paper, the smooth brayers, the satisfying movement of the heavy etching press.

Like jazz itself, my iPad paintings are improvised during live performances.
